Yet so little is known about them and therefore speculation is rife. Mysteries and legends are one result. Some believe in a [L3 402 / divine formula] responsible for the construction of the pyramids and the world's religious monuments, while others believe in a [L3 403 / natural power] within the pyramids. These are almost impossible to prove with any great certainty. However, the pyramid complex played a significant role in ancient Egyptian religion and offers some insight into Egyptian spiritual practices. Sculpture, painting and architecture of the pyramid complex was considerably influenced from legends espoused by high priests that kings endorsed. Three principal legends influenced early Egyptian world views. They were myths concerning the creation of the universe that developed from the cities of [L3 404 / M 002 / Heliopolis], [L3 405 / M 002 / Hermopolis] and [L3 406 / M 002 / Memphis].
